Cullen Cottage
Our Cullen seaside cottage, sleeps 6 and is situated just a few steps from the beautiful Cullen beach. Cullen beach is one of the largest sandy beaches on the Banffshire coast. Our holiday cottage is one of the original fisherman's cottages dating back to the early 1800s and is situated almost opposite the historic Cullen harbour now home to just a handful of boats which can be seen from the bedroom windows.
Our cottage is deceptively spacious with two double bedrooms upstairs and one twin bedroom with large single beds on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor is a comfortable lounge and separate dining room as well as the bathroom which includes a bath with a shower over and a quaint kitchen. Outside there is a small enclosed courtyard with table and chairs.
The cottage is furnished in a traditional style with many antiques. In the lounge there are two reproduction leather Chesterfield sofas and a Victorian tartan Queen Anne armchair. The stone walls are exposed from dado height and there is an open fire. There is a large digital television with Freeview The downstairs bedroom has two 19th century French beds. They are larger than singles but not quite the size of a small double. The bedroom has a window to both the front of the house and the side with partial sea views. The original Victorian fire has been opened up. The bedding is generally of the finest Egyptian cotton and there are sumptuous bedspreads and cushions in the Victorian style. There is a built in cupboard and shelves. The drop from the clothes rail is not full height so there are further hooks on the doors should longer garments need to be hung. Upstairs are two further double bedrooms.The first has an original Edwardian kingsize bed. The bed is made of burr walnut with ormolu mounts. There is a roof window to one side and on the other side partial views to the sandy beach and sea, Cullen harbour and the old harbour light. The second bedroom has a pine cottage style kingsize bed. The bedside tables boast Tiffany style lamps of the dragonfly design. This bedroom has similar windows to the first bedroom and again partial views to the sea and harbour. The bedrooms are built into the roof in the cottage style so there is not full head height throughout the rooms. As a result the clothes rail in the cupboard is again not full height so hooks on the door have been provided. Full height hanging space is provided in the cupboard in the dining room.
The cottage is heated by gas central heating and heating and electricity costs are included in our tarriff.
Outside to the back of the cottage is a small courtyard with a table and two chairs.
Parking is not available directly outside the cottage but within a few metres on the public road. Parking is free.
